I. Introduction to Geely Powertrain Yiwu Factory:
The powertrain Yiwu base is one of the seven production and manufacturing bases of Zhejiang Geely Powertrain System under Geely Group. It is located in Nanqingkou Automobile Industry Park, Chian Town, Yiwu Development Zone, Zhejiang Province. It was established as a strategic cooperative investment project by Geely to actively respond to Yiwu’s accelerated industrial restructuring and to realize the integration of production and sales resources of Geely automotive engine products. The project was officially signed in June 2014 and consists of three major manufacturing factories: Zhejiang Fengrui Engine Co., Ltd., Zhejiang Yili Auto Parts Co., Ltd., and Yiwu Geely Engine Co., Ltd. It is a high-tech manufacturing enterprise integrating engine research and development, manufacturing, sales, and service. The Yiwu municipal government also plans to build a “Green Power Town” and Sino-European (Smart Manufacturing) Industrial Park around Geely’s Yiwu base.
The G430 factory has a total investment of 2.065 billion RMB, with a total land area of 139 mu. The main products of the factory are multiple gasoline and hybrid fuel engines in the A platform and C platform series, which are equipped with Geely’s existing main-selling models such as GX7, EC7, GC7, and SC7.
The factory started construction on May 8, 2015, and the first engine of the A platform successfully went offline on December 28, 2015. The C platform was fully completed and put into production in September 2016. As of December 28, 2017, a total of 200,000 engines have been produced. The factory is divided into 7 departments: Quality Assurance Department, Process Planning Department, Equipment Maintenance Department, Production Logistics Department, Machining Workshop, and Assembly Workshop, with a total of 399 employees, more than 50% of whom have a college degree or above.

The GEM3 factory has a total investment of 7.5 billion RMB, with a total land area of 402 mu. The planned annual production capacity is 400,000 engines. The factory started construction in November 2015, and the first engine went offline successfully on May 5, 2017, passing the OTS node smoothly. The SOP node was completed on December 30, 2017, officially starting production. The factory is divided into 7 departments:
Manufacturing Department, Quality Department, Logistics Department, Equipment Engineering Department, Production Technology Department, Lean Management Department, and Safety and Environmental Protection Department, with a total of 425 employees, more than 80% of whom have a college degree or above.The Yiwu Geely Engine Co., Ltd. project has a total investment of approximately 10.5 billion RMB, with a total land area of 268 mu. After completion, it will mainly produce the new generation 3-cylinder engine GEP3 (1.5T) jointly developed by Geely and Volvo, and the VEP4 (2.0T) engine led by Volvo. The project is planned to complete equipment installation and debugging by March 30, 2019, and start trial production.
